Basic Hygiene Requirements To Prevent Coronavirus
The current COVID 19 pandemic came in light with China informing the World Health Organisation of a cluster of diseases of a completely unknown cause originating from the Wuhan city of Hubei province. The coronavirus disease is a type of severe respiratory illness and pneumonia that has the power to spread very rapidly from one person to another. The World Health Organisation has declared it a pandemic and has named it sars-CoV-2.
Globally, the cases regarding the Coronavirus are skyrocketing, with most of the infection and deaths happening in China. But, referring to the current scenario it is noticed that the pandemic is now spreading widely and way faster in the US and Europe when compared to the mainland province of China. The risk of getting infected by COVID- 19 has increased for people of any age who comes in close contact with an infected person. Senior citizens and the ones having pre-existing medical issues such as diabetes, heart disease or asthma seem to be much more vulnerable with this virus and may face serious complications.
Giving a pause to the epidemic is our only option if we cannot afford to stop it, unless and until a vaccine comes out to our reach. Any type of measures, small or big, might help in slowing the process of spreading the virus. Self-protective measures and the other measures that might be beneficial for the community can be of real coalescence. In fact, basic hygiene can really turn into being beneficial for our entire society.
Different small or big organizations are in search of vaccines to prevent the Novel Corona Virus (COVID- 19). However, the Centres For Disease Control And Prevention has suggested some crucial hygiene tips and measures that should be followed to help protect yourself from this pandemic.
- Try not to get exposed to this virus as much as possible. Research says that this virus is mostly spread while coming in contact with an infected person or staying in an infected area.
- Use handwashes or medicated soaps to rinse and wash hands for a bare minimum of 20 seconds.
- In the absence of handwashes, try using hand sanitizers with at least 60% of alcohol content.
- Disinfecting and cleaning commonly used areas and surfaces are a must.
- Try using a good quality filtered N95 mask if you are ill to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus or other diseases.
Due to the current pandemic situation, the CDC or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has come up with different strategies and plans for all the nursing schools and Institutes of Higher Education (IHEs) to get prepared and respond to the current COVID-19 disease. Erudite Nursing Institute being a non-traditional online nursing school, has been offering different accelerated nursing programs and distance online learning to cope up and fight the battle against COVID-19 and overcome all the obstacles that are inherent to traditional nursing programs.
All the courses are made in accordance with the OSHA standards and thus it is recommended to the employers that they strictly encourage and provide their medical staff with the emergency preparedness and response certification course to ensure compliance with the policies and laws set forth by OSHA and all other governmental organizations.
