CWRU IN AFFILIATION WITH METROHEALTH SYSTEM FOR BETTER NURSING OPPORTUNITIES

A new partnership arrangement has bloomed between Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and The MetroHealth System for enhanced educational, clinical and research opportunities.

Under the new partnership agreement, CWRU students will train and conduct research studies at MetroHealth’s main hospital on West 25th Street in Cleveland, stated in a post on Case Western Reserve's The Daily site.

The said affiliation, will set training experiences for CWRU undergraduate and advanced practice nursing students in alignment with clinical professionals across specialty areas throughout MetroHealth.

“This is good for basic practice, this is good for public health and this is good for science that informs practice,” said Mary Terhaar, associate dean of academic affairs at the Case Western Reserve School of Nursing. “This is a true academic-practice partnership that will be better for not only teaching, but for patient care.”

As part of the agreement, MetroHealth’s Chief Nursing Officer Melissa Kline will function as an associate dean for clinical affairs at the CWRU nursing school. She will supervise the clinical section of the academic activities for the school within the hospital system.

Case Western Reserve and MetroHealth have already existing affiliations through agreements with the university's other health-related schools and centers like the School of Medicine and the School of Dental Medicine.

Erudite Nursing Institute™ supports the newly formed agreement between the two institutions, and this could be one of the great examples for other nursing schools and health systems to enhance nurse training and research to increase learning outcomes and discover new breakthroughs in the nursing sector.
