GRCC WORKSHOP PROGRAM EXPOSING TEENS TO NURSING CAREER
In the middle of the present nursing shortage, Grand Rapids Community College is initiating programs specifically with the youth to encourage them enter the nursing career.
Under the said program, high school students will have the chance to take an up-close look at the healthcare profession and, in particular, what it is like to be a nurse.
Student participants in GRCC's three-session workshop will learn to take blood pressures and pulses, listen to heart and lung sounds and work in the college's simulation lab. Also, instructors will inspire them to consider a career in nursing.
American Nurses Association predicts that by 2022, United States will need 1.1 million new nurses.
With that, the demand implicates a positive effect. Based on ANA’s study, nursing employment rate is expected to increase from 2.86 million to 3.44 million jobs (20.2%).
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics stated that the median annual wage for a registered nurse is approximately $70,000.
Erudite Nursing Institute™ supports GRCC’s innovation of luring the youth through a workshop program where they can get an up-close learning experience with nursing profession.
