TOLEDO IN OHIO RANKED AS ONE OF AMERICA’S TOP CITIES FOR NURSES
Toledo was just ranked as third best place in America to be a nurse.
In a report, the ranking was based from ZipRecruiter, an online employment site, wherein Toledo tied with Minneapolis-Saint Paul for third best city in America to be a nurse.
Their data concentrated on the lower costs of living combined with good salary as well as bigger job opportunities with less job seekers.
In Toledo, there are more than 800 nursing job openings alone.
"That definitely makes me feel excited, especially since Toledo has such a great nursing program and nursing school, to know that there's going to be jobs opened up for us staying right where we went to school will be great," said Rachel Tracy, a junior nursing student.
It is not only Toledo that’s in need to fill more nursing job vacancies.
Nationwide, there are 1.1 million new nurses needed as 500,000 are expected to retire by 2022, as projected by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
In a statement, Nursing Dean Linda Lewandowski thinks one of nursing's big interests lies in its flexibility as a career.
"Nursing is a very flexible area. It can really meet the needs of people with very different ideas of what they'd like to do," Lewandowski said.
